Natural Repellent for Deer and Moles

Image via WikipediaDeer can have a devastating impact on your garden, from eating newly planted babies to munching on long awaited rose buds.  I have successfully kept deer away with a little knowledge about plants and deer habits the last couple years.  Now, with wood violets blooming, trillium poking up, and a few other garden gems making an appearance.... I thought it was time to share this.

Deer Do Not Like:
Garlic
Raw Eggs
Kelp
Human Hair
Mint
Capsaicin (Hot ingredient in peppers)

By mixing up an economical spray with any of the above ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs, these supplies can have a big impact without impacting your wallet.

Asking a local hair dresser for hair clippings is a free way to add nitrogen to your soil and keeping pests (deer and moles) away.

Daffodils

By planting these herbs and plants amongst your deer loving plants, you are simply discouraging deer from entering your garden.

Dogs are a great deterrent!  Nothing says stay away like a dog barking and dog urine scent.
