Dehydration Nation

Clean drinking water...not self-evident for ev...Image via WikipediaHow much pure, filtered water do you drink in a day?  Does your answer give you a little ache in your brain because you know you should drink more?

As a wellness coach, I pay close attention to people's water drinking habits.  Not just my clients, but people in general.  I can almost predict who has arthritis, who has kidney issues, and who has diabetes just by paying attention to what they drink.

There are studies that say our nation is not a dehydrated nation with all the soda, and frilly drinks we consume.  However, I bet on a differing theory.  (I should look into who funded these studies.)

In my opinion, arthritis, gout, kidney issues, urinary tract infections, constipation (which will cause a plethora of other issues), acne, and many other diagnosed illnesses would find relief in a few simple, pure glasses of tap water. (That does a lot for pharmaceutical companies now doesn't it?)  Granted, I'm not a doctor, so my opinion means nothing to most people.

Speaking of doctors, when was the last time your doctor asked you how much water you consume on a daily basis over the course of a month?  I would imagine that information would be key in the proper diagnosis of anything.

The hardest thing for me to witness is a child who is suffering with constant urinary tract infections while the parents have no understanding that what they are giving their child is the poison that is causing the child's suffering.

I've heard excuses about not drinking water  because it causes stomach upset to heartburn, while a soda is downed in lieu of one of our most important elements of health.

Some Water Facts

3.575 million people die each year due to water related diseases.

Water and poor sanitation cause more deaths each year than any war with guns.

A healthy person can drink about 3 gallons of water a day.

Sodas, while made with water, also contain caffeine which is a diuretic that prevents water from traveling to the necessary places in the body.

By the time a person feels thirsty, over 1% of body weight from water has already been lost.

Water dissolves more substances than any other liquid, carrying minerals, chemicals, nutrients, and toxins with it.

Get on your Water Love!  I carry a stainless steel bottle with me wherever I go to reduce plastic bottle pollution and.... water fountains are free!  Drink Up!
